Coming Summer 2025
Come join us for Sophomore Spotlight! A workshop designed for rising college sophomores. We provide a dedicated space for students to reflect on their first year of college, sharing successes, challenges, and lessons learned. With a dual focus on major selection and career resources, students explore academic pathways and opportunities, while also gaining insight into the prospects of graduate school.

Our Mission
The Campus Scoop supports under-resourced college bound students by engaging them in programming which addresses the expectations, responsibilities, and resources for a successful transition to college. We strive to be a trusted source of information, where students find comprehensive support, resources, and guidance essential for a successful transition to college life.
Our Program
Welcome to The Scoop! College Transition Program, where we offer a comprehensive approach to preparing students for their college journey. Our curriculum covers essential topics, including navigating campus resources, understanding college terminology, honing soft skills including time management and note-taking, and mastering financial management techniques.
We create a supportive environment where students can develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive in college and beyond. Our program meets for two Saturdays per month, with the possibility of an additional meeting in one of the months, running from January to May, preceded by an orientation session in December.
At The Scoop! College Transition Program, it’s all about you. Your adventure in higher education is our top priority. We're here to support you every step of the way!

Our Founder
My name is Joanne Briscoe and I have over 20 years’ experience in higher education as both a Director of Student Services and as an Academic Advisor. Throughout my career, I observed the challenges faced by first-year college students, particularly under-resourced students, and recognized a need for continued support beyond the initial orientation sessions and seminars.
Despite best efforts to arm students with the critical information needed to successfully assimilate, these programs can be overwhelming and lead to information overload rather than information absorption.
Transitioning from higher education to public high schools, my understanding of college readiness expanded. I realized that preparing students for college entails more than just academic readiness; it's about facilitating a holistic life transition by providing college readiness information and skills in a format and cadence so they can be absorbed, retained and accessed as needed.
My passion for guiding students through successful college transitions led me to found The Campus Scoop. I recognize that college readiness encompasses every aspect of a student's life. Through The Campus Scoop, I empower students by providing the information, tools and support they need to thrive academically and personally.
